Dry RiserDry RiserDry RiserDry Risers are a series of pipes that provide a means of delivering large amounts of water to the upper areas of a building to extinguish a fire. They are for buildings over 10m tall, or where buildings are more than 60m away from the entrance. They are fitted into staircases or other suitable positions and have outlets fitted at ground level which the Fire Brigade connect to water supplies on the ground. |

Wet Riser
Wet risers have the same principle as dry risers, but are typically found in buildings over 60m tall, and are kept constantly charged with water for the immediate fighting of fires by the fire brigade. British Standards recommends that the system is visually inspected every 6 months and serviced annually to ensure that the equipment is ready for immediate use in an emergency.
