Aspirating smoke detection systems are designed to detect smoke at very low densities, much lower than the density that standard units detect. They draw air into a series of pipes where a detector passes a laser beam through it to measure how the light is scattered. This allows the detector to distinguish between dust and other small particles, and smoke. |
