Fire Doors & Door Furniture

Under current fire safety legislation issued in 2006, any premises where persons are employed to work or members of the public visit, must have "preventative" and "protective" measures in place. These "measures" include determining the number of fire compartments within the building, which may also include the location and number of fire doors required. This will ensure that occupiers and/or visitors will be able to escape from fire via a protected means of escape route protected by fire resisting materials and doors, and that the spread of toxic fumes, smoke, flame and products of combustion is restricted.

Regular maintenance of fire doors is also required, which will ensure all escape routes are maintained in a safe condition.

All our fire doors are supplied with the following:

  • British Standard kite mark
  • British Woodworking Foundation Certificate
  • BS Self-closing device
  • BS Fire handles
  • Combined heat and cold smoke seals
  • BS hinges x 3
  • BS Signage
  • BS Glazed Vision Panels (if required)
  • 12-months manufacturer's guarantee and an installation certificate

NOTE: All doors supplied are certified by the British Woodworking Foundation (BWF) as to their standard and quality. This is not always the case with fire door suppliers.

We can carry out a specific fire door survey of your premises and advise you of your legal responsibilities. Our assessors carry out a 7 point check including the following:

  • Stability and Integrity of the door
  • Type and standard of hinges
  • Combined heat and cold smoke seal check
  • Signage requirements
  • Vision panel and glazing check
  • Door furniture including handles and self closing device
  • Location of door and recommendation of door hold open devices (if required)
  • Fit of door in frame and tolerances required
  • Quantity and location as required by current fire safety guidance

For further information, ask about our Fire Risk Assessments surveys - please contact us.

Once the door survey has been completed we will supply you with an action plan and even prioritise any work necessary. In addition we also liaise with any other organisation such as the Fire Service and Building Control officers and agree a schedule of work over an agreed period of time particularly if the number of replacement doors is excessive.

Our fire door fitters are highly qualified and skilled with membership of NAPFIS (National Association of Passive Fire Installers and Specifiers) in addition they have many years experience fitting all types of doors and door sets (door and frame). Our joiners specialize only in fitting fire doors: they do not carry out other joinery work and so are experts in their field.

Our Services include the following:
