Fire Hydrants
|
Large premises, such as hospitals, universities or holiday caravan parks usually have privately owned water hydrants installed on site for use by the Fire and Rescue Service in the event of a fire. It is an employer's responsibility to ensure these are properly tested, and maintained by a competent person. It is essential that fire hydrants are not blocked from use from parked vehicles or bins for example. Fire Action Limited operate a team of hydrant technicians who can test and inspect your water hydrants as part of your annual maintenance programme. |

Importance of Maintaining Fire Hydrants
The importance of maintaining fire hydrants was highlighted earlier this year following a fatal hotel fire in Newquay. Fire hydrants near the hotel blaze in Cornwall were clogged with silt and alternatives had to be found. It is a legal requirement to maintain this equipment for Fire Brigade use.
