The responsibility for fire safety in your premises falls on the ‘Responsible person’ – usually the owner or occupier. This is laid down in the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order which came into force in 2006.
To ensure that you meet these responsibilities, you need to be sure that any supplier of Fire protection services has the skills and procedures to ensure that you receive the level of protection that your staff, customers and your property require:
All of our staff have been security screened to BS5878: 2012 and DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) checked
We are Safecontractor Approved and have all of the relevant policies and procedures in place for ensuring our staff work safely
As a BAFE registered company we are assessed by a UKAS accredited certification body to meet the requirements of the Schemes that define the standards necessary. We routinely invest in our skills so that you can meet your responsibilities. Our fire alarm installations Design, Installation, Commissioning and Maintenance are all third party accredited to BAFE SP203, giving you the reassurance that every stage in our processes has met very rigorous standards. All our extinguisher service engineers are BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) Registered Technicians. They have been independently assessed by a third party accreditation scheme and passed as competent by a BAFE Assessor and Verifier.
We can confirm that we operate a quality management system to ISO 9001 which is independently assessed and accredited by a UKAS verification body. Our scope of registration covers our design, installation and maintenance of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
We are fully covered for your/our peace of mind in respect of the following insurance cover: Professional Indemnity Cover (£5 Million), Public/Products Liability Cover (£5 Million) and Employers Liability Cover (£10 Million).
Health & Safety, Security and Environmental Responsibility
As a responsible contractor, we ensure our staff are trained to operate in a safe manner at all times and we endeavour to reduce the impact of our business on the environment. We have all statutory documentation available, on request, which includes, but is not limited to, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, COSHH Data, Health & Safety Policy, Environmental Policy, Comprehensive Insurances and membership of industry recognised bodies. We have passed the stringent assessment of our Health & Safety Controls and Protocols, and are duly “Safecontractor Approved”, and registered. Our Certificate Number is N00196458. Our engineers also carry CCNSG Passports for Safety which detail key areas of Health & Safety that they have been trained in. All of our staff have been security checked via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Checks) and Security Vetting to BS7858. We undertake huge amounts of work at Residential Care Homes, Schools, Boarding Houses, Nurseries and Day Centres where vulnerable adults and children are present. Similarly, we work at a range of sites where high value goods are present or where heightened levels of security are an absolute must. Your peace of mind is important to us, and we take our responsibilities very seriously with regard to the security of our customers and their property.
Risk Assessment Competency
All of our Fire Risk Assessors have significant experience as consultants, trainers and engineers in the private sector, carrying out fire safety services including Fire Risk Assessments and Fire Safety Training. As a company we have carried out hundreds of Fire Risk Assessments on very diverse premises across a wide range of buildings including licensed premises (hotels, restaurants, bars), flats and HMOs, offices, shops, educational premises and factories and warehouses. We are frequently called upon to assist clients in cases where the Local Fire Authority have carried out an audit and consequently served an Enforcement Notice. They have extensive former experience with the Fire & Rescue Services, and are members of the Fire Prevention Association (FPA) and the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). They regularly attend courses to ensure that their industry knowledge and skills are up-to-date and these include the PAS 79 Fire Risk Assessment Course by Colin Todd and Associates, Means of Escape – Approved Document B with the FPA and the three-day FPA Fire Risk Assessment Course specialising in the Common Areas of Residential Blocks of Flats and Housing of Multiple Occupations (HMO’s).
The Fire Industry Association (FIA) is the largest fire protection trade association in the UK. With 850+ members, they represent a significant proportion of the industry and are a major provider of fire safety training. Their main objectives are to promote, improve and perfect fire protection methods, devices, services and apparatus. They achieve this through the representation of members and provide technical support, guidance and opportunities for professional advancement through education and regulation.
